Greco EG500, tobacco burst, made in Japan 1979. This is a looker, but it's not a wallflower... it plays superbly to boot. Greco stuff made from 1975-85 are sometimes called their 'golden age' guitars, and this treasure dates to right in the middle of that purple patch. The headstock is a curiosity: the 'bump' style headstock was only made in 1979, a departure from the open-book style of the previous and subsequent years and a cool little feature. The plain maple top is really pretty: there's some gorgeous grain lines on show and the aged burst finish looks a treat. The body is chambered, so this doesn't really weigh any more than a standard Tele or Strat, which is a fun bonus. The Maxon pickups are great: airy mids, heaps of low end punch, sweetness and clarity in the high end... they love a dose of dirt but are hi-fi enough to clean up nicely too. This is a comfy, fun player, it never feels like a wrestle. to get your notes out. The hard case is a nice bonus too... ooh thanks!

The sides have an extra hole on the top horn from a moved strap pin, some dimples and scuffs along the elbow area to all the way around past the jack, there's a couple of little dents near the knobs and some dimples on the bottom horn. The front has some dimples up from the bridge pickup and in the elbow area, a dent a couple of inches behind the bridge and some scuffs near the knobs, as well as the standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)
