Greco F-200 acoustic, made in Japan 1973 approx. This is surely a lovely creature. Greco are mostly known for their electric guitar models, but their lesser known and less common vintage acoustics are absolutely worthy of mention. This one takes it's cues from the Gibson Hummingbird, although there's a few key differences. Firstly, there's the Martin-esque square headstock and the rosewood back and sides, also akin to the famed Martin D-28. It's got a lovely slim neck that's an absolute breeze in the hands; the action is also nice and low and perfectly playable all the way up the neck. Unlike many acoustics of this vintage, it's never had a headstock repair and the top is still nice and flat; it's weathered the decades almost untouched. The tone is magic: big, thick bass dripping with warmth, a rounded and even attack and a clarity and sparkle that lends a perfect splice of definition and chime. This really is a brilliant sounding and playing guitar, perfect for open rhythm parts and a very worthy gig machine if you add a pickup. Very nice indeed!
