(SOLD) Greco Mint Collection EJR59-50D TV Yellow 1985
Greco EJR-59-50D, bright yellow, made in Japan 1985. The Mint Collection series was Greco's mid to late 1980s take on some classic Gibson offerings, and they're generally regarded to be among the most 'vintage correct' G-style guitars going around. The LP Customs and Standards pop up semi-regularly, but the Special and Juniors are very thin on the ground. The catalog shows the colour code for this one as 'LM', which automatically assumed meant 'lemon meringue'...makes sense, right? The hue is a vibrant gloss yellow, thin enough to glimpse the ribbon grain of the mahogany through up close, and paired with the tort guard and well-played rosewood board, this looks amazing, just like a delicious lemon meringue pie. The body is pretty lightweight and the neck is slim and comfy, it feels quite compact in the hands and makes for easy movement around the neck. It's naturally resonant too, it's quite loud unplugged. Straight into a dirty tube amp and the party beings: this has a rich, swampy midrange and a growly, immediate attack. It's fun to play with the volume and tone controls, you can pull quite a range of tones with a little experimentation. But, what it does best, in my humble opinion, is 90s skate punk chuggy rhythm parts... it's absolutely perfect for that. I've been wrong plenty of times before, but at time of writing I can't see another example of this model for sale on major internet platforms anywhere in the world. Just the kind of dessert you need, right?

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some scuffs and a minor chip on the end, as well as a dimple on the back near the high E tuner. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back and some play wear on the board only. The back has widespread minor dimples and light scuffs, the most notable are along the top edge and in the elbow area, no major marks though. The sides have a few little things to note: some minor chips and dimples on the top horn, scuffs in the elbow area, scuffs and a little chip near the jack, dimples on the bottom horn. The front has a dent near the edge in the elbow area, some dimples on the bottom edge near the jack and behind the bridge and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have a some normal wear including the start of some pitting, but there's plenty of height left and no major buzz issues, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
