Greco PB600 Mercury Bass, made in Japan 1978, natural finish. These old Grecos are a delight; they were all made by hand before the days of CNC; the attention to detail is exceptional. This was Greco's take on the classic P Bass, so it's a pretty straight-up vintage rock and roll machine. The neck is moderately chunky in profile and easy to like; the maple is nicely aged and looks and feels very agreeable. The sen ash body is on full display under the clear natural finish; it's a finely grained two piece body that's not too heavy and visually attractive. Tone wise, the ash/maple combo delivers a heap of presence and snap, blending nicely with classic P-thump. If you're after a 70s P but like the idea of getting something likely better made than a 'legit' USA for a fraction of dollars, here's a tasty golden treat just for you.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end. The neck is pretty clean and smooth in the hands, no major marks. The back has a few dimples and light scuffs around the outside edge, no major marks. The sides have some dimples and marks on both horns, the shoulder and near the jack; nothing nasty. The front is pretty clean, just some dimples around the bridge and shoulder and some play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, they're pretty tidy; 8/10 for fret life left. The G-machine head is a little stiff but works fine. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
