Greco SV-600 semi-hollow, wine red, made in Japan 1979. This is a classic 'golden era' Greco, made by hand to an unbelievable standard and packed to the brim with personality and class. The 'Super View' series was Greco's twist on the 335 body design, tweaked for the local Japanese market. As such, you get a slightly smaller body; 20mm or so smaller across the top than a 335 (similar in dimensions to an ES-339) and an agreeable moderately slim, rounded neck, as well as the cool oversize headstock and some quirky original hardware. It feels magnificent: the neck is comfy and the body is extremely responsive, so every note and chord seems to get a life of it's own. The tone is quite something too. The neck pickup is bell-like in clarity, with tight and rounded lows and a sparkling, eloquent top end. The bridge pickup has a rich, growling vocal quality, with excellent sensitivity to differing attack and sublime note separation... even with a dose of gain, the warmth and clarity is superbly balanced. These seldom last long around here, so nab yourself gorgeous example of vintage Japan artistry and let this one write your next ten albums almost by itself.
