Greco VB500, honey burst, made in Japan 1981. Adorable, right? It's nigh-on-impossible to dissociate these violin-style basses with The Beatles, but hey, that's okay with me. This is quirky: slim neck without a lot of taper, lightweight, vintage style hardware... it's not versatile, but it sure does a thing. The tone is thumpy and round, with a strong fundamental note, short sustain and plenty of warmth. The burst finish has aged beautifully, and paired with the yellowed plastics and patinaed hardware, this looks great. Do you have the joo joo eyeball?
