Gretsch 6122JR Country Classic Junior, made in Japan 2003, walnut stain finish. This is a gorgeous creature! What we have here is a cut down version of the classic Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model. It's got the same controls, body depth, neck profile and aestheitcs, but the body width is cut from 405mm to 355mm and the scale is shortened to a Gibson-style 24.8". The smaller body takes some weight out and makes the guitar feel super cosy and compact; it's an absolute breeze to play. The neck is slim and very comfortable; combined with an extremely resonant body, this is a very light and lively player that responds enthusiastically to every touch. The tone has that signature Gretsch snap, sizzle and growl, but there's a darker, punchier edge to it than you get on the full size model. It's a little more balanced and warm than a standard size offering. Needless to say, it's extraordinary to behold: the lightly aged walnut finish and gold hardware absolutely ooze class and sophistication. These seldom pop up in this part of the world, so if you think it might be your new bestie, pluck some courage and make it yours.
