Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet, red, made in China 2007. Gretsch launched their Electromatic series around 1998, with a trimmed down version of their iconic Duo Jet the primary offering. It's now a massive line with a million models, but in 2008 when this was new there was only a handful of options. This has the classic chambered mahogany body, but with a more basic Bigsby style tailpiece and a pair of mini humbuckers. The tone on deck has that classic bustling Gretsch energy, but with a slightly more controlled, percussive attack akin to a Firebird. I'm normally a neck pickup type of guy, but the bridge pickup on this is awesome: growly, full, complex and brash; it's a lot of fun. The red looks awesome too, it's classy.

The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor scuffs and rub wear on the back only. The back has some dimples near the neck joint and in the middle of the body, as well as widespread light scuffs around the whole body. The sides have very light scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The front has some dimples around the switch and up from the bridge pickup, as well as scuffs around the tailpiece, elbow area and knobs, plus some light play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear only, 9/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
