Ibanez JTK2 Jet King Brown Sunburst 2006

Ibanez JTK2, made in Indonesia 2006, brown sunburst. These Jet King models are too cool. The Jet King 2 was made from 2004-7 before vanishing into discontinuity forever; a shame really. The second version of the Jet King switched the neck to the famous three piece maple style build found on the shreddable RG and S Series guitars of the day, but with a more rounded friendly profile akin to 60s Strat. You alsoget a mahogany body, which adds some midrange growl and warmth into the mix tonally. It's a great sounding guitar: heaps of attack and chime in single coil mode, or hit the toggles and add some thickener into the sauce with the vintage voiced humbucker mode. Not all offset shape guitars have sensible hardware, but the cool signature tailpiece, tune-o-matic style bridge and sturdy tuners mean this holds tune well and handles a heavy handed attack easily. The sunburst and tort combo hits the peculiar curves of the body with style; it's got a quirky appeal harking back to the Japanese surf-inspired weirdos of the 60s. I basically seek these out because I have a long standing soft spot for them: this is just cool, right?
