Ibanez MC824 Musician Bass, made in Japan 1990, natural satin finish. The Musican is a 80s icon, finding fame with esteemed players like John Entwhistle, Sting and Adam Clayton, among many others. The model disappeared from Ibanez's international catalogs in 1987, but a Japan only version popped up briefly in the early 90s... ta-da! There's good reason these were loved: it's a pleasure in the hands and a glory for the ears. The neck is exceptional: three pieces of gorgeous tightly grained maple for strength and resonance in a well-played satin finish in a super friendly moderate round profile... it's hard to put down. The combo maple and ash body means you get a mammoth midrange and very precise, tuneful top end, all balanced by a thick, juicy low end with huge punch. The electronics give you a Jazz Bass style V/V/T setup, but with a bonus switchable two band EQ for added pizzaz. The gold hardware and walnut stained wings certainly make for a bold look: this has a certain self-assured grandeur that lends it a certain royal swagger. These don't come up everyday so nab yourself a winner while you can.
