Ibanez Performer Series PF200 Sunburst 1978

Ibanez PF200, sunburst, made in Japan 1978. The Performer Series models were short lived, made in 1978-9 only. It was a good era for Ibanez; Blazers and Musician models were gaining good traction and the quality of build they were managing out of the Fujigen Gakki factory was were high indeed. The look is approximately LP-flavoured, but with a different top horn, a bolt-on neck and the big Ibanez headstock. The seven ply binding makes the sunburst pop nicely, it's certainly got a classy aesthetic. It sounds great: heaps of bite and sizzle on the top end, moderate sustain akin to an SG, warm and rich through the mids... there's a lot to like. This one has been de-badged and had a bunch of parts replaced, so it's less of a collector's piece and more of a players/modders ticket to a good time.

The neck has some minor dimples and scuffs on the back, it's clean and smooth in the hands. The back has some dimples in the elbow area, back and bottom edges, as well as some scuffs in the middle of the body. The sides have some scuffs on the top horn, some dimples in the elbow area and near the jack and a dent and some scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has some dimples in the elbow area and some play wear on the horns, nothing nasty. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear but are in good shape, 7/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
