Ibanez SR400 Soundgear bass, black, made in Korea 1998. The Soundgear series launched in 1987 as the successor to the Roadstar II basses, and they've been in production ever since. This one is a late 90s example, and it has the typical pragmatic appeal that has made these such a popular and long-running series. It's got a slim, straight, fast-playing 24 fret neck, with the three piece 'wizard' style construction lending some additional stability. The body is lightweight and rounded around the edges, so it's pretty comfy. The high mass bridge and sturdy P/J pickup set deliver a modern, punchy tone, brought to life by a very powerful three band active EQ. You can dial all sorts of tones, it's all there at your fingertips. Heaps of bass for not much cashola.
