Maton EA80C 'Australian' model, made in Melbourne 2008. This model is one of Maton's flagship options, alongside other classics like the Messiah and the Tommy Emmanuel model. It really is a brilliant representation of just how good Maton guitars can be; it's extremely convincing. The solid blackwood back and sides are stunning; there's some really beautiful colour and pattern on show. They lend the guitar a full and defined midrange that's wonderfully articulate and sensitive. The solid spruce top is tightly grained and beautifully yellowed with age; it offers crispy clear highs and round, tuneful lows and is ringing all the more truly for a few years of play on the clock. The AP5 pickup system is trusted and relied upon by a laughably high percentage gigging acoustic players around the nation, and it delivers the natural, warm plugged-in sound, exactly as you expect. The near-invincible Hiscox case is a superb addition; they're possibly the best cases around anywhere. This is a uniquely Australian take on the deluxe dreadnought, and it's surely a worthy lifetime companion for a busy player.

Model: Maton EA80C 'Australian'
Made: Melbourne Australia, May 2008 (serial 1626)
Finish: gloss natural
Body: solid spruce top, solid blackwood back and sides
Neck: Queensland maple, rosewood fingerboard
Mods: none
Pickup: Maton AP5 system
Case: original Maton/Hiscox 'Liteflite' case, exceptional quality good condition

Cosmetic condition notes: Light finish wear. There's three noticeable nicks in the top; one near the pickguard, one near the side around from the jack, and one an inch from the edge not far from the strap pin. The back has a little chip on the edge of the binding at the bottom, and a couple of nearby scratches and there's some wear to the lacquer on the back of the neck. There's some other very minor dimples, but really it's in nice shape. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: Low action, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 12/53 strings. Smooth!
