Mosrite Mini Octave Guitar, black, made in Japan circa 1995. Phwoarrrr... this is cool. Mosrite guitars came out of California in the 1960s, featuring innovative, surf inspired designs and premium craftsmanship. They hit the the big time when they landed in the hands of surf rock royalty The Ventures. In 1960s Japan, The Ventures were even bigger than The Beatles, and so it followed that Mosrite guitars became in huge demand. Eventually production on the brand moved to Japan, and so in the 90s, this little weirdo was born. It's based on the famed Ventures model, but... it's very miniature. They didn't mess around with quality at all though: the german carve body, perfect fretwork and high quality hardware all attest to the fact that this is no toy. It's strung up with 11-49 strings and tuned A-A, which puts the tone somewhere between a regular electric guitar and a mandolin. Unlike some other small size guitars, it holds tune really convincingly and the intonation up the neck is accurate. The pickups are a legit set of Mosrite soapbar single coils, so when you plug it in it delivers a rich, thick chime with heaps of sparkle and body. I saw this pop up and had knew instantly I had to grab it for the shop, I sincerely hope it lands in an appreciate home as it's such a delightful little item.
