Paul Reed Smith John Mayer Silver Sky Roxy Pink 2024
PRS Silver Sky, Roxy Pink, made in USA 2024. Not many modern-era players enjoy the kind of gravitas attached to John Mayer. When he moved from Fender to PRS a couple of years ago, the internet truly caught fire. The Silver Sky was the end result of a multi-year design collaboration between Mr Mayer and Mr Smith, taking the best elements of John's top '63 and '64 Strats and adding some modern conveniences for maximum playability. I was initially aa bit cynical about these, but honestly: holy guacamole, it's an excellent guitar. The neck feels fantastic, and the fancy tremolo bridge and locking tuners make for outstanding tuning stability. The switch, knobs and thicker jack plate are all classy tactile touches. Plug it in, and you get a perfect balance of slicing brightness and meaty low end oomph. It's extremely responsive and even up and down the neck, while maintaining some of that signature Strat quack and snarl. The finish pops perfectly in the flesh too, it's very pink and exudes a cheeky charm. Dang it guys, I love it, send help.
