PRS McCarty 594, Trampas Green, made in USA 2016. Paul's guitars are always very well thought out and very well executed. This model is named for Ted McCarty, Gibson innovator and mentor to Mr Smith, and the actual scale length of a Les Paul, 24.594 inches. It gets some G-inspired touches: pickup switch on the top horn, stop tailpiece, separate volume and tone controls for each pickup. You also get some classic PRS goodies: locking tuners, straight-string-path clever headstock, bird inlays, 10" radius, carved maple top, split coil push/pulls and some house-made pickups. It's a very enjoyable guitar to play: super even all the way up and down the fretboard, as is typical with PRS USA stuff, lightweight and resonant and super well balanced. The sound is great too, with a generous rounded low end kick and a chirpy top end on the neck pickup and an open, creamy growl on the bridge pickup. The split sounds are nice too, they're more usable than almost every other brand's attempts. The muted green finish is snazzy, it's got a bit of a eucalyptus vibe to it. Very good stuff.
