Pedulla Thunder Bolt bass, cherry sunburst, handmade in USA in 1995. Pedulla stuff enjoys a great reputation as proper boutique basses: no CNC routers, one master luthier only on the tools, brilliant wood selection, great hardware... it's all there. First up, this is made from maple. Glorious, gorgeous, beautiful pieces of maple, with something for everyone: a tightly grained three piece plain maple back, a beautifully figured book matched flame maple top and a sweet birdseye grained neck. Paired with the cherry burst finish and the gold hardware, this has plenty of bling, but it's somehow still understated and classy. Maple basses are often heavy, but at 3.9kg this is very light, especially for a five string. It's resonant and lively unplugged, and the neck is just magic in the hands, it's so nice to move around on. The Bartolini pickups and simple pre-amp offer a modern, defined, hi-fidelity snap, balanced nicely across all five strings and with plenty of warm, gooey body to fill out any mix. If you need a bass to cover the busier parts of gospel, soul, nu-jazz or RnB, this will do it. It's tonally hefty enough to cover more aggressive stuff like punk and metal happily too. These aren't getting any easier to come by, and this one has been well looked after, so if you've been hunting for the right Pedulla, here's your shot.
