Raven EB style bass, walnut finish, made in Japan around 1970. You probably haven't heard too many people raven about these... har. Raven instruments were made at the famed and prolific Matsumoku factory in the early seventies, largely for a Canadian distributor who sold them into department stores at the time. This one is a fun little short scale bass approximately emulating the Gibson EB (or SG) bass. It's got a handy little neck that's nice and easy to move around and balances well with the lightweight body. The pickups deliver a growly, snappy thump... there's a tasty roundness to the attack and plenty of natural low end, and when you dig in hard the treble snaps back at you in a jovial way. It's a fun choice for grunge or doom style stuff, but it'll happily cover surf and indie tones too. Heaps of fun!
