Rickenbacker 325V63, black, made in USA 1996. The 325 model launched in the late 50s and was designed by German emigrant Roger Rossmeisl, who also had a significant hand in the design of the legendary 4001 bass and was the master under which Semie Mosely trained before he started Mosrite. It's just about a three quarter size neck, with a scale length of 20.75" and a lightweight, small body to match. The 325 found favour with John Lennon, and will forever be associated with his early work with The Beatles. They also popped up in the hands of John Fogarty of Creedence and Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles, among other notable luminaries. This one is in great shape, with a handful of scuffs and marks but barely anything nasty to mention. It's an interesting guitar in the hands: once you get used to the light touch the short scale requires, it's really fun to play, and the perfect size for the couch. The neck has a 42mm nut, which is basically a standard width for Fender style stuff, so it's not too cramped in that direction and the string spacing is really quite manageable. The pickups are great: equal parts smooth and toothy, with much more attack than a regular humbucker but a bit more creamy midrange and low end than a standard single coil. The quirky trem and bridge setup all works as intended and it holds tune nicely. These come up for sale approximately never around these parts, so if you're looking for the perfect addition to any Lennon fan's house, here you have it.
