Ric 4003 bass, Jetglo finish, made in USA 2001. These never fail to turn heads in the store, and they never fail to look and sound supremely excellent on stage too. This one is on the lighter side for a 4003, so it feels comfy and balanced in the hands. The moderately beefy D shape neck is sturdy and agreeable, and while it's not exactly optimised for speed, it's perfect for grunge or punk stuff. The tone on offer is instantly recognisable: a grinding, crunchy top end with heaps of definition and a self-assured percussive low end. It loves a bit of overdrive and a pick. Go find a cooler looking bass, I'll wait.
