Solar V2.7C, blacker than the blackest black times infinity, made in Indonesia 2020. Solar Guitars have made a big splash in the metal guitars market in a short time. This is a great example of why: it's a great piece of design, executed very well and delivers heaps of grunt for the dime. The matte black finish paired with the black hardware and ebony board makes for a very dark aesthetic, which will complement your dark sense of humour perfectly. The pickups borrow schematics from Seymour Duncan but are made in Indo especially for Solar, and they work a treat. There's heaps of natural low end and plenty of output, but being passive and good quality, there's enough air and space in the midrange to still offer some nuance and dynamics rather than squeezing all the personality out in favour of more gain. The neck is closer to a rounded C shape than a flat-in-the-back shred profile, so it's quick and comfy without making you too much of a technique hypochondriac. The hardtail bridge, jack on the back and sensibly placed knobs are all examples of the simple pragmatism that drives this: it all just works, no nonsense. So, if you've got a whole lot of anger at your parents boiling up in the form of brutal breakdowns and maniacal riffs, here's a perfect shredstick for your antics.
