Squier SST33 Silver Series Strat, made in Japan in 1992-3 . The Silver Series heralded a return to Japanese manufacturing for Squier, and were very well received at the time owing to the excellent build quality from the legendary Fujigen factory. On arrival, we blessed this one with a new black guard and a fresh wiring harness, so it's a little bit fancy under the hood. The neck is a delight: straight, stable and slim, it's a quick and comfy player with just enough miles to feel perfectly played in. The maple board model is a little harder to find than the more common rosewood option, and with some play wear on the satin finish, this is looking superb. The tone on these defies their price: it sounds thick and juicy through the low end, balanced by an eloquent and chirpy top end, it's very satisfying indeed. These are a super fun Strat, perfect as a modding platform, but even if you do nothing to it, it just makes you feel good.
