Squier Silver Series Jazz Bass, made in Japan 1993-4, sunburst. The Silver Series marked a 90s era return to Japan's legendary Fujigen factory for Squier after several years of manufacture in Korea, and at the time, they were heralded as a revelation in quality. The build quality is excellent, everything feels tight, tidy and in it's proper place. The body is light and resonant, and the satin finish neck is really comfortable and responsive; it feels very lively in the hands. This one came in needing a little love, so it's wearing new knobs on new pots, a new classy tort guard and has had the earth wire moved from the surface to 'under the hood'. It cleaned up beautifully, and now, I'm a little in love honestly. The tone on offer defies the affordable price point: thick, snappy growl with heaps of warmth and grit and a particular punchy definition that only comes from a couple of decades of play and a super resonant body. It sounds terrific. The 'clownburst' finish is set off nicely by the tort guard and aged headstock; it looks keen for action. All in all: this has mojo, you're gonna love it.

The neck is smooth in the hands with several minor dimples and surface scratches on the back. The back has a chip near the rear strap pin and some scuffs along the back edge, as well as minor dimples around the perimeter; nothing too nasty. The sides have a few dimples on the top horn and back edge as well as a dent around from the jack. The front is pretty tidy, just some dimples around the bridge, surface scratches on the elbow carve and dimples on the top horn. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have been played, but wear is minor, 8/10 for life left. Slinky player!
