Squier SST33 Silver Series Strat, made in Japan in 1993-4 in sunburst. The Silver Series heralded a return to Japanese manufacturing for Squier, and were very well received at the time owing to the excellent build quality from the legendary Fujigen factory. This one is in awesome shape; it's got that 'played in' feel but without the dings and marks you often get on 25+ year old guitars. The neck is the highlight: it's a superb piece of maple with a ocre and choc rosewood board, finished in light satin that's glossed up slightly with play. It feels awesome in the hands; an absolute breeze to play. The solid 'clownburst' style finish has a certain charm; it's yellowed along with the plastics and has a cool vintage aesthetic. Tone wise, this punches well beyond it's dollars: heaps of thick juicy attack, tasty tight mids and a healthy dose of snap and sparkle. As-is, this is a great Strat, but with a 'swimming pool' body route, it's surely a modder's dream. You'll have a good time either way.
