Squier CTL30 Telecaster, made in Japan in 1986-7, black on black. These early E-serial Japanese made Squiers are brilliant instruments, and as word has got around about that, they've become increasingly scarce. The Tele models are even trickier to find; they're greatly outnumbered by the equivalent Strats. This one is a stellar example, as soon as you pick it up, you can feel the majesty. The most striking feature on this is the neck: check out that flame! The neck on this would be more at home on a Custom Shop model or something by Suhr or Xotic, it's a seriously saucy piece of flame maple. It feels incredible in the hands: the combination of being a great piece of wood, famed Fujigen workmanship and thirty plus years of play mean this feels absolutely sublime in the hands. Tone wise, this is a bright and lively take on the Tele-twang with a very rich, open midrange and a crispy clear attack. This is a pretty safe bet to increase in value as the years progress; surely time will only multiply the legend of these early MIJ Squier instruments... what sparkly unicorns they are!

The sides are pretty good, just a few little things: some tiny chips and dimples o the shoulder and around from the jack, and some very minor scratches on the bottom horn. The front is also pretty good, just some light scratches behind the bridge and near the control plate, a ding along the back edge near the rear strap pin and some play wear and dimples on the guard and top horn. Overall condition: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal play wear, there's no major buzz issues and they don't need immediate attention but there's some pitting on some frets; 5/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
