Squier CTL30 Tele, made in Japan 1985, refinished in sherwood green. When this one arrived, it was in quite a sorry state: the neck pickup missing, the wiring all over the place and the original finish has some weird burn marks where the topcoat was 'running'; it looked like it had coffee spilt all over it. So, it became a bit of a project. Local luthier Ed Moase stripped the original finish and applied a sherwood green pearl metallic finish, with just a hint of gold through it for sheen... gorgeous. We also dropped a tasty set of Tonerider Hot Classic single coils in, alongside a deluxe wiring harness from a buddy in Brisbane who makes such things. The result: hot dang, it's good. These E-serial guitars always have incredible necks and this is no exception: the neck is a dream. Slim, straight, sturdy, slick... superb. The pickups are a slightly overwound on the classic 'Tele twang', so this cleans up nicely but absolutely loves a smattering of overdrive. The top-notch electronics add clarity and sparkle to the tone and a certain robustness; combined with the ash body, this really does sound awesome. It'll be sad to see this little guy leave home, having watched it blossom into a beautiful specimen, but hey, it's gotta spread it wings and flyyyyyy.

The finish on the body is new, so there's no major marks, just a few dimples from dings in the previous finish in the middle of the back and on the front in the elbow area. Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look to have been recently levelled and polished, so they're looking great; 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 strings.
This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
