(SOLD) Sterling by Musicman SUB AX3 Translucent Red 2013
SUB AX3, trans red over quilted maple, made in Indonesia circa 2013. The Axis model derives some of it's heritage from the Eddie Van Halen models of decades past, so it's got a basswood body with a fancy top, a pair of hot humbuckers with some cool switching and a super shreddable neck. It's comfy and compact in the hands, the neck allows for quick movement and easy access all the way up and you never have to work too hard. The five way switch offers the standard neck/both/bridge humbucker positions, as well as a handy neck single coil sound and a two-singles Strat-style in between sound, which are both welcome additions. The blood red quilt finish is pretty gaudy but it looks cool. This is a bit of a quiet achiever.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has minor dimples on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, just some minor dimples on the back and some rub wear on the board. The back has widespread light scuffs and surface scratches around the whole body. The back cavity cover is missing. The sides have light scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The front has dimples very good the knobs and widespread scuffs in the elbow area and both horns. Overall: excellent condition (7.5/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for life left. Setup with fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
