Supro Ozark Limited, white, made in Indo 2019. The original Supro 1261 Ozark came out in the 1950s and was aimed at Western players, so it needed to excel for both traditional and slide style playing. This little howler is number 85 of 200 made in 2019 as a cool little throwback to that iconic model, but updated with some sensible mod cons. First up, a decent bridge: string-through and sturdy with six saddles for easy adjustment. Next, you get a cool pickup by USA's Lace, aimed at reproducing the signature snarky honk of the original 50s Supro humbucker. The result is a lot of fun. Into a cranked tube amp, you get a growly, throaty voice with a pronounced midrange hump that's awesome for blues and country lines. The neck is comfy and moderately slim, and the compact body is perfect for couch noodling. Alternately, lie it flat as a slide guitar and you're in a different world of fun. These are well and truly sold out new in Australia, so nab yourself a cute little Swede while it's on offer. My favourite part? The adorable tuners.
