Fender Mustang, '69 reissue in black, made in Japan 1984-87. This is very cool indeed. The E-serial MIJ Fender Japan guitars are notoriously well built, and the Strats and Teles are easy enough to find if you dig around... not so much the Mustangs; these are pretty rare! The finish has seeped into the wood and aged beautifully, there's a few dings and scratches to show the age. The chrome parts all have some discolouration and pitting, but are functionally fine and certainly lend a certain vintage charm. The rosewood board and slim maple neck are in great shape, they feel nicely played-in and very responsive. The tone is mellow, warm, and full; it's got that signature Mustang attack and quick decay. E-serial guitars are getting more collectable by the day, so if you're an offset aficionado, this will be a great little addition to the gang.

Cosmetic condition notes: Moderate finish wear. There's some significant aging on the chrome parts, see the pics for a good idea of how they look; they all work fine. Plastics have all aged significantly and are quite discoloured, and there's plenty of wear on the tort guard. The finish has a bunch of dings and scratches,m and the beginning of some checking on the back. It's quite a thin finish, you can see the grain of wood in the light on certain angles where it's seeped in over the years. Looks seriously good, in a beat-up way. Overall condition: 6/10
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. All electronics and truss rod tested and working properly. Frets have some wear but not really any pitting, they're at 8/10. Has that slinky feel and effortless bending that short scale offers, and the skinny neck has aged perfectly. Awesome.
