Gibson SG Special Faded in worn cherry, made in USA in 2010. This is a no-nonsense rock machine! These 'special faded' guitars found considerable favour following their release, as the super thin nitro finish not only looks great and wears quickly to a cool natural relic, but also allows the mahogany body to breathe and resonate nicely, creating a tone that punches well above the price-point. This particular SG is in good nick, there's only minor wear here and there and a little glossing of the finish. The slim, quick neck is very comfortable, and better balanced with the light body than many SGs I've come across, you don't feel like it's constantly in need of being 'held up'. Plugged in, the 490R+T pickups produce a thick, warm, dark tone, with a little touch of bite when you dig in. The tone is pretty balanced and you get some nice variation at different levels of attack, it really is an easy sound to love. There's room in many players' hearts for a cherry SG, this one would be a nice addition to the family!

Cosmetic condition notes: Minor finish wear. There's a few marks and scratches near the electronics cover on the back and a couple of little dings in the headstock. There's some normal scratches on the pickguard. Chrome parts are in good condition. The finish has glossed up slightly around where your strumming arm contacts the body. Overall: very good condition.

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good. Frets have almost no noticeable wear. Setup with fresh 10/46 strings. Not as neck-heavy as some SGs, it's fairly nicely balanced. Easy player that loves to play riffs all day.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
