Warwick Thumb Bolt-On, natural satin finish, made in Deutschland 2000. There's nothing like a Thumb, this absolutely has a thing that other basses cannot replicate. This one is in pretty minty shape, despite being well over twenty years old. The neck is a P-style chunky shape, blessed with a gorgeous wenge board and those signature hard-wearing brass frets. The body is lighter than I expected it to be, for a bubinga bass it's very reasonable indeed. The feel in the hands is awesome: each note rings with resounding enthusiasm and the natural sustain is ridiculous. The tone on offer is quite something: plentiful low end, but of the tightest, punchiest variety, paired with a zingy, tuneful top end and a certain rounded 'pang' that lends every note a singing clarity. You can dial a thick, dark P-ish tone spiked with searing clarity, or a sharp Jazz-style growl that's outlines in weighty, fat lows... seriously amazing stuff. These come up used approximately never around these parts, so don't wait too long if it's been in your mind since we were all wearing baggy cargos. Thumbs up.
