(ARCHIVE) Washburn J9 Hollow Body Cherry Red 2000
- Description
- Guitarchives
Washburn J9, cherry red, made in Korea 2000. This is a nice thing! It's fully hollow, but with a bridge block to tame the feedback and add a nudge of sustain. It's also oversize, so there's a fair bit more volume and surface area than a 335, so despite being a thinline depth, this has a lot of the warmth and breathiness of a full size jazz box. The neck is a tasty vintage style soft-V; a cute little reference to the Washburns of old and intuitively comfy in the hands. The body is very lively in the hands, so there's a sweet snappiness to the attack and rich and rounded low end that respond to the lightest touch. The build and finish quality is excellent; there's not a hair out of place and you can feel the love that went into it. This will happily cover jazz, blues and rockabilly all with plenty of grace and attitude. It's certainly a quiet achiever!
