(ARCHIVE) Yamaha MB-III Motion Bass Black 1988

- Guitarchives
Yamaha MB-III, black, made in Japan 1988. The Motion Bass could only ever have been made in the 80s: it's got a vintage-sci-fi look and is dimed for speed. This is the more basic version, so it's got passive pickups and a basic P-style bridge, but still manages the trippy headstock, shred-friendly neck and super light body. It's punchy and full in tone: heaps of roundness and warmth and a walloping attack. The short scale and slim neck make for quick, comfy movement, and at 3.3kg this is laughably lightweight. Somehow, it still balances nicely and doesn't neck-dive... there's some witchcraft in there somewhere. Start up some com-Motion.

The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has some dimples in the middle of the body, as well as a few scuffs on both horns and around the neck plate and along the back edge. The back has some light scuffs around the whole body and some dimples in the elbow area and near the jack.
