Yamaha SessionII 512, pale pink, made in Japan 1987. No prizes for guessing which decade this came from! Here we have the 1980s distilled into guitar form. These Session II guitars are a pretty classic Superstrat: take the regular Strat, add a handy set of pickups with some overwound single coils and a splittable humbucker, flatten out the board for shred antics and add a monster of a trem bridge. Then, add a nasty/superb pale pink finish from head to foot... consider the party officially started. This feels great in the hands; the neck is comfy and quick, it's well balanced and the hardware is all very sturdy and stable. It also sounds really, really good. The single coils deliver a classic clean, crisp Strat tone with enough heat to get an overdriven amp cooking but plenty of clarity and warmth. The humbucker growls and snarls convincingly but also splits to a single without losing too much output; it's a lot of fun. The bridge takes a bit of getting used to when you re-string it, but once you get your head around it, it's pretty intuitive. Plus, you don't need to snip the ball ends off the strings, it holds tune well and it's got a lot of range for beeewooooaaaar tricks (that's a dive bomb, folks). The pink finish has a few scuffs and discoloured patches from years of antics, but it's surely a perfect monstrosity. Yes, yes, yes.

The sides have minor scuffs and dimples around the whole body as well as a dent in the elbow area. The front has some dimples behind the bridge, a few scuffs and fade marks around the whole body and some play wear on both horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, they're fairly even with no major buzz issues; 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 12/54 Moonshiners strings and tuned to drop C
