Daion Superstrat-Style White 1988
Daion superstrat style, white, made in Korea 1988. Daion is a Japanese word meaning 'mighty sound', and was the same company behind the excellent Yamaki guitars. They enjoy a bit of a cult following, especially around their unconventional acoustic models. This one dates to the late eighties and was most likely made in Korea. It's a comfy player, with a rounded vintage C neck with a fair bit more 'meat on the bone' than one would typically find on a shredstick. The trem and hardware are sturdy and pretty user friendly, offering good tuning stability and pretty easy adjustment. The pickups deliver the goods too: clear and sparkly on the single coils with plenty of attack, creamy and bristling on the humbucker with an assured kick in the mids. This is a lot of fun and certainly has a bit of vintage shred swagger, and for the bucks involved it's laughably good.
