Edwards E-LP-92CD Black 2001
Edwards E-LP-92CD, black, made in Japan around 2001. Edwards is part of the ESP umbrella of brands, these days mostly offering Japanese-made Fender and Gibson style guitars to the local market. In Edwards early days, they mostly did production versions of artist signature ESP guitars; this example dates to the transitional era when they were just switching to doing lots of cool stuff like this. It's styled after the late 60s 'Black Beauty' Les Paul Custom, so you get the seven ply binding, gold hardware, ebony fretboard and block inlays. It looks very classy, with excellent fret and and finish work evident as soon as you pick it up. At a whisker over 5kg, it's no lightweight, but hey: if you want a light guitar, go buy a Danelectro or something. The neck is quick and comfy, rounded and reasonably slim and easy to get along with. The pickups are by Duncan, and they sound great: clear and full, heaps of low end kick, open warm mids, chirpy treble. The non-chambered body adds some focus and bite through the mids and highs, which will translate beautifully in a mix or recording. Heaps to love here!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has scuffs on the end, dimples on the back and light scuffs on the front around the truss cover. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor scuffs on the back only. The back has a dent and some scuffs near the switch cavity, scuffs on the bottom horn, surface scratches along the bottom edge, dimples around the control cavity and back edge and some scuffs in the elbow area. The sides have scuffs on the top horn, dimples and scuffs in the elbow area and some scuffs near the jack. The front has scuffs around the switch, rub wear above the pickups and around the bridge, scuffs around the back edge and knobs, holes from the removed pickguard and play wear on the horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 8/10, minor wear only
