Fender American Vintage '62 Jaguar Black 2008
Fender AVRI '62 Jaguar, black, made in USA 2008. The American Vintage line offered vintage-correct takes on golden era Fender models, and enjoyed long critical and popular acclaim following their release in 1982. The offset examples are a bit trickier to find than the Strats or Teles, and black was a non-catalog colour, so it's a cool little score. This one has been played: there's a bunch of honest play wear on the finish, as well as some checking lines and some unusual damage to the waterslide logo, but dang... it looks so cool now, it's got swagger. The neck is slim and super comfy, carved to a typical slim 60s C style shape from some gorgeous lightly figured maple and very dark rosewood. Plug it in, and the jangle abounds: gooey warm lows, understated airy light mids and a cheeky, springy top end that slices through a mix perfectly. The original case and docs are included, but the trem arm was missing, we're trying to track down a fresh one but at time of listing it's still an unsolved mystery. Here's to the coolest looking guitar in the shop.... *cheers*
