Fender American Vintage '62 Jazzmaster Olympic White 2013
Fender AVRI '65 Jazzmaster, olympic white, made in USA 2013. What a looker! Fender's American Vintage line launched in 1982, offering accurate takes on their 'golden age' models to great critical and popular acclaim. The series got a reboot in 2012, and these 'New American Vintage' era models are super impressive in my books. This one recreates the original 1965 Jazzmaster: bound fretboard, dot inlays, tort guard, matching headstock. It looks super fly, especially in the faded white finish. It's faded to a creamy colour in some spots, and almost a mint green-ish hue under certain lights, it looks fantastic. The neck is on the fat side for a Jazzy: certainly notably thicker than the Japan models we're fond of around here. It's blessed with some gorgeous dark rosewood and super tightly grained maple, so if you like a moderate-to-beefy shape you'll be well rewarded for your trouble. The tone is great: heaps of chime, slice and clarity on the lead circuit, or a girthy warble on the rhythm. A previous owner swapped the knobs and installed a buzz-stop-bar, which we've left on board as I feel they're sensible mods. This looks a million bucks: put it to good use, friend!
