Fender Japan '52 Telecaster TL52-70US US Blonde 2004
Fender '52 Tele, US Blonde, crafted in Japan 2004-5. This looks good good good. 'US Blonde', somewhat ironically, was a Japan-only finish: it's something like a halfway point between olympic white and butterscotch blonde, with a generous dose of gorgeous ash grain on show through the creamy colour. Paired with the 50s style decals, golden maple fretboard and vintage style hardware, this is surely dressed to kill. The neck is a traditional soft-V style shape, which feels great in the hands and is perfect for rhythm playing. The body offers plenty of natural resonance, which contributes to a lively, responsive tone. It's shimmery and fat on the neck pickup, creamy and assertive on the bridge pickup, or beautifully balanced with a vocal-like sweetness in the middle. If this is exactly what you had in mind when you started wondering about a Tele, who can blame you?
