Fender Japan '72 Telecaster TL72-55 Natural 1989
Fender '72 Tele, natural finish, made in Japan 1988-9. This faithful old creature arrived with plenty of playwear and a generous layer of filth, but with some cleaning products, patience and determination, it came up looking rather awesome. These 80s-era Fujigen made Telecasters are always beautiful instruments, with carefully chosen woods, excellent workmanship and a certain understated panache. The neck is a comfy rounded U shape, with some nice tightly grained maple on show and a smooth feel in the hands. The tone is fat and warm, with a generous wide midrange and shimmering smooth treble; it's a pleasure to hear. If you've tickled for a trad Tele and favour a tone with plenty of character over a bruiseless finish, this will surely sing sweetly for you.
