Fender Japan Jaguar JG66-85 Sunburst 1998
Fender Jaguar, sunburst, crafted in Japan 1997-00. The Jaguar is Fender's best looking model, surely. This is a late-last-century reissue of the original idea from 1962, dolling out all the classic Jag goodness. The dual circuit electronics, low-wind single coils and short scale combine for a punchy, jangly tone: use the rhythm circuit for walloping attack and gooey dark warble, or the lead circuit for surfy snap and sizzle with abundant top end shimmer. The rosewood board is very dark and the tort guard is a vibrant red, which set off the classic curves, classy chrome and smooth sunburst finish perfectly. The perfectly balanced offset body and slim neck mean this is super comfy in the hands too... why work harder than you must? Deep down, we're all cat people.
