Fender Japan Mustang MG69 Gold Oyster 2008
Fender Mustang, gold oyster finish, made in Japan 2008. Wow, so rad hey! When I saw this, I had to grab it for the shop, it looks so unusual. Evidently, the previous owner has done a refinish. the process involved spraying a coat of paint, then using a plastic film to peel some off, repeating the process a bunch of times before finishing it off in thin smooth clear. It looks awesome: a bit of a shiny gold bowling ball vibe. It also got some new chrome parts and a handy little re-wire, so it's all in great order under the hood. The sound is classic Mustang stuff; plenty of punch in the attack, short sustain, lovely rounded lows and chirpy highs. This one is a little clearer and snappier than a regular MG69, with a bit more definition and slice from the replaced pickups, which should translate beautifully in a mix. The neck is slim and comfy, the body is light and the hardware all works nicely, so it's really fun and easy to play; the short scale neck and undersize body mean it always feels a bit like a party. Surely, this one will look great hanging on your wall, or even better under stage lights, right?

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has dimples on the end and both edges and some scuffs on the back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor scuffs and dimples on the back and a small dent on the treble side behind the 3rd fret approx. The back has dimples on both horns, bottom corner, rear strap pin and near the neck plate and some scuffs in the elbow area. The sides have dimple on the top horn, a couple of small chips in the elbow area, dimples near the jack and scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has dimples on the top horn, a small dent in the elbow area, dimples around the bridge, small dents near the treble side corner of the tailpiece and some play wear on the guard and horns .
Overall: very good condition (7.5/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
Fret life: 7/10, minor wear only
