Fender Japan Richie Kotzen Telecaster Sunburst 2022
Fender RK Tele, sunburst, made in Japan 2022. Ritchie Kotzen is a hard rock legend, slinging riffs for Poison, Mr Big and Winery Dogs. His playing is exuberant and full of personality, it's always fun to listen to. This is a recent take on his signature Tele, which has been in the Fender Japan catalog for several decades now. It's an ash body with a snazzy flame maple top, decked out in gold hardware and a burst finish, which looks awesome. The neck is big: it's a fat C shape, not so different from the 'baseball bat' profile you get on some 50s-style USA models. A big neck always seems to sound better, and this sound fantastic. The neck pickup is glassy and assertive with a plump, percussive bass. The bridge pickup is equal parts slicing top end and creamy, punchy mids, and being a rails-style job, it's noiseless too. This is a kickass Tele, that's the best word for it in my books.
