Fender Japan '62 Stratocaster ST62 Shell Pink 2010
Fender '62 Strat, shell pink, made in Japan 2010-11. It's very cute, isn't it? This little charmer references the 1962 version of the Strat, so you get Kluson-style tuners, the gold spaghetti logo, a rosewood slab fretboard, 3-ply mint green pickguard, stamped saddles and a snappy set of single coil pickups. It's dressed in pink, which has yellowed and mellowed to a peachy warm hue, which looks super snazzy paired with the minty guard, aged plastics and dark streaky board. The neck is a comfy rounded vintage C shape, a shape that typically wins fast friends in the shop and gets along well with just about everyone. The tone is snappy, crisp and warm, with a strong fundamental note, airy mids and a tuneful, balanced treble. There's a lot to like here, it's a very convincing take on the classic Strat sound. And, it looks very, very good doing it too.
