Fender Telecaster Thinline Natural 1975
Fender Telecaster Thinline, gloss natural. made in USA 1975. This is an amazing example of significant model, I'm very pleased to have it in the store. In 1972, Fender launched a trio of new Telecaster models showcasing their new Wide Range Humbucker, designed by pickup genius and Gibson alumni Seth Lover: the Telecaster Custom, Deluxe and Thinline. The earlier Thinline model sported a pair of single coil pickups, but the model found final form when it was updated with a semi-hollow ash body, half-size bridge, new pickguard design and a pair of Seth's finest pickups. This one is in amazing shape, it looks more like one year old than fifty one years. The plastics have mellowed a little and there's some haze on the chrome, but it really has weathered the decades in amazing form. The neck is a comfy 70s U shape, not super fat or thin, wit the original frets in good order. The body is lightweight and very responsive, with some gorgeous grain lines waving their way along the classic contours of the iconic shape. The real sauce here is the sound: my oh my, it sounds lush. The pickups deliver a vibrant, deep complexity through the midrange, adding detail and harmonic content to every chord and lead line. There's still plenty of Tele-twang on the top end, and the bass is very tight and self-assured, especially on the neck pickup. Very few guitars deliver a rhythm sound this clear and full. It's pretty challenging to find original Thinlines around in Australia, and in this condition it's a good find anywhere in the world. What a fine find.
