(SOLD) Fender American Vintage '62 Jaguar Sunburst 2006
Fender American Vintage '62 Jag, three tone sunburst, made in USA 2006. Classy stuff right here! The American Vintage reissue (or AVRI for short) line launched in the 80s to critical and popular acclaim: finally, proper vintage style Fender guitars were back. This one dates to the mid 00s and has a few scars to mark the years. Most notable is a repaired patch on the back near the neck plate: on arrival there was a burn mark from what looks like a run in with a soldering iron which had caused some inconsistency and stickiness in the finish, so we sent this to our local guitar finishes specialist and he has kindly polished up the back to a nice consistent smooth finish. It's a stunning item: the super dark streaky rosewood board oozes luxury, the golden maple headstock and red tort guard really make the grain of the alder on show under the sunburst fade look exceptional. This has been blessed with a Mastery Bridge, which cost a small fortune but serve to rectify any buzz from behind the saddles during play as well as offering better stability, smoothness with the trem and increased sustain and tone. The tone: oh yes, it's a big yes. There's a certain warmth and thickness that adds a confident, tight low end to the classic Jag-Jangle. There's heaps of definition and attack on offer, but this has a really sweet complexity and assuredness that's very satisfying indeed. The neck is a comfy 60s style C shape, it features some lovely maple grain as well as a gorgeous streaky dark choc rosewood and feels very alive in the hands. This is a really loveable guitar, you'll love it.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has minor scuffs on the end and a slight nick in the decal. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, no major marks. The back had a burn and some running in the nitro on arrival, so our local finishes specialist has polished up the area near the neck plate so it's all sealed up nicely and clean and smooth to the touch as per pics. There's also a few dimples and light scuffs around the outside edge of the body, nothing nasty. The sides have a few dimples in the elbow area, near the jack and on the bottom horn, no major marks. The front is pretty tidy, just a few dimples in the bottom corner near the jack, dimples on the back edge in the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: good condition (7.5/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets . All electrics tested and working properly. Frets are pretty tidy with minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
