Gibson Les Paul Standard, sapphire blue, made in USA 2003. I love this colour. Sapphire blue was a limited edition finish, made for Gibson's Japan distributor Yamano as a special run on a couple of different models in 2003. It's very pretty: there's a subtle metallic flake through it like a gold top, and it radiates a rich lapis lazuli hue. The back is a dark stain, and this particular example has been blessed with one of the darkest pieces of rosewood I've seen in a while, which ties it all together beautifully. It looks superb, that's the best word for it. The neck is a 59 style profile, so it's carved to a generous C shape: nicely rounded without being a baseball bat. The body isn't chambered, which adds focus and high-midrange presence to the tone, and at 4.5kg it's not crazy-heavy. The tone is very clear: the neck pickup has a weighty, piano-like bass and a shimmering top end, which covers jazz cleans or doom dirties with glee. The bridge pickup has a pleasing balance to it, with a wide midrange, creamy highs and a fast bass response. It's got presence and slice without being thin or poky. At time of writing this seems to be the only example of this model in this finish available anywhere, so if you're taken with it, don't miss your shot.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has minor scuffs on the front and back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor scuffs and a small, shallow dent a few cm from the headstock join on the back only. The back has a small chip near on the rear side of the control cavity and some light scuffs in the elbow area and middle of the body. The sides have light scuffs in the elbow area and near the jack. The front has minor dimples around the knobs and tailpiece and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 9/10, minor wear only
