Gibson Les Paul Vixen TV Yellow 2006
Gibson LP Vixen, TV Yellow, made in USA 2006. The Les Paul Vixen launched at the Winter
NAMM show in 2006. It was initially designed with female players in mind, although I'm sure the fellas will appreciate this too. It's a slim, lightweight body, similar in depth to a Melody Maker on an SG, but featuring the sleep carved top we all love on an LP. The wraparound bridge, set neck and low mass combine for plenty of natural resonance and unplugged volume; it feels very alive in the hands. The thinner shape affects the tone too, adding a little bit of extra articulation and snap to the mix, which brings out the best in the pickups. The neck is smooth and gooey with a rounded voice, while the bridge is a little hotter and delivers the snarly crunch with enthusiasm. The finish has a bit of natural wear, which is all part of the plan with these thin satin nitro guitars; it looks awesome. At time of writing, this was the only example of this model I could find for sale anywhere, so hey: if you're keen, be quick and clean.
