Gibson Melody Maker Flying V Satin Blue 2011
Gibson Melody Maker Flying V, blue, made in USA 2011. The Melody Maker debuted in 1959 as a student model: Les Paul shape, with a thin slab body, one pickup and a wraparound bridge. The model came in and out of the catalog in subsequent decades, and briefly in 2011, it was re-booted as a series, with LP, SG, Explorer and Flying V models on offer. We've had a couple of the others, but never the V before: heck, it's cool. It's lightweight and responsive in the hands, with a pleasing quick neck and a certain rudimentary charm. The pickup has been swapped for a hotter example, and I'm here for it: it's got a walloping kick and a wailing midrange, and it sounds great. The blue and black is a cool look too, it's clean and mean. Don't count on seeing many of these around, but hey: this one is looking for loVe.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has scuffs on the end, edges and back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has a bald patch and some surface scratches in the middle of the body, scuffs around the front strap pin and on both points and some dimples near the apex of the V. The sides have minor scuffs and dimples around the whole body, as well as a small scratch and a dent on the bass edge. The front has dimples on point arms of the V and some play wear on the guard .
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 9/10, minor wear only
