Gibson SG Deluxe Walnut 1971
Gibson SG Deluxe, walnut finish, made in USA 1971. There was a lot happening in the music and guitar industries in the early 70s, leading to some pretty cool models that really exemplify the look and sound of the era perfectly. In 1970, Gibson launched their mini-humbucker equipped Les Paul Deluxe, as well as the quirky SG Deluxe: big guard, Bigsby tailpiece, mini block inlays, all dressed in perfect 70s brown. It's a fun recipe: the T-Top humbuckers deliver the goods: the neck pickup is smooth, creamy and fat, with a glassy top end a very tight and tuneful bass. It's warm without being vague or muffled. The bridge pickup is more square sounding, with an abundance of midrange kick and a great balance between snarly edge and wide complexity. This one was a touring guitar for a few years, so it's got plenty of honest play wear on the clock, but looks and feels all the better for it. This is a super manageable way to add a genuine vintage Gibson to your collection, which is surely a noble quest.
